What's New At Putnam Lake!

FALLEN TREES TO BE REMOVED:

The PLCC has recently contracted with MJM Tree Service to remove the trees that have fallen into the lake. A total of fourteen locations have been addressed around the lake, and several dead and dangerous trees have been dropped to the ground. The work should be completed by August 16th, 2010.

The PLCC is asking the town to lower the lake this winter so the shoreline can be cleared of other hanging trees and limbs.

And come late fall when all the leaves have fallen, the PLCC will be spearheading a vine-cutting campaign to save the trees and beautify the parklands.

If you have any questions about this campaign, or would like to volunteer, please e-mail PLCC President Debbie Lawlor at theem1@comcast.net or Rob Lichtenberger at rml@annaslimo.com.

INVITATION TO JOIN SEPTIC ASSOCIATION:

Residents of the Lake Oscawana watershed recently formed the Valley Septic Association, allowing them to negotiate pricing that is 25% below public rates for the periodical maintenance of their septic systems.

The move came after the town of Putnam Valley enacted a law requiring property owners to have their septic systems periodically pumped, cleaned and inspected. With the MS4 requirements due to take effect throughout the NYS watershed next year, it is likely that Patterson residents will be subject to the same mandate.

While the association is focused on Putnam Valley, membership is open to residents of Putnam, Dutchess and Ulster. Better pricing can be secured with more members.

Visit www.valleyseptic.org for information. There is a $10 fee for full membership benefits.

HELP WANTED FOR ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE:

The Entertainment Committee is looking for volunteers to form Sub-Committees for our yearly events. It has become difficult for me to conduct this responsibility alone and I do not wish to step down from the entertainment committee ( I love what I do). I have just come to the realization that in order for the events to continue......I will need some help. I am looking for volunteers to chair one event. (Not the entire calendar of events) So please take a moment and review this list of events and see which one interests you. I am hopeful that you and your friends will be inclined to chair an event. I am more than willing to share this responsibility. I hope that the response to this e-mail is generous because I would hate to see these events disappear. Our community is so special due to the amount of volunteers we are so fortunate to have.

Sincerely,

Gerry Dolan
