About the Putnam Lake Community Council |
The
PLCC is a non-profit organization that was founded in the 1930’s when
Putnam Lake was originally started as a summer community. In
the early days, the PLCC helped to obtain paved roads, electricity, and
fire protection for all the residents as well as to provide social and
recreational activities for the families vacationing here. It started
and remains today an organization run entirely by VOLUNTEERS. The PLCC
operates solely upon the membership dues, fund raising activities and
volunteer work. The PLCC does not receive any funding from the town, county
or state. While
all property owners of the original thirteen tax maps have deeded lake
rights, you must still be a member of the PLCC to utilize the beaches
or other parklands owned by the PLCC. The PLCC owns the beaches, the parklands
surrounding the lake, Memorial field, and the Boat House. The PLCC is
fully responsible for the upkeep and maintenance including all taxes and
insurance.
PLCC membership is open to all residents of Patterson, however only those
members owning property within the original thirteen taxed maps are allowed
to vote. Members who are renters or property owners outside of the original
thirteen tax maps are considered associate members, who can enjoy all
the benefits of the PLCC with the exception of voting.
