PLCC Alternate Board Members Needed |

Alternate Board members:
Alternate Board members are needed to ensure that Board and membership meetings have quorums so that business matters can be voted on. Alternates learn the business and often become Full Board Members. If you wish to volunteer to serve and you have been a PLCC member in good standing for at least one year, please e-mail the PLCC President, Deb Lawlor, for details.

Dede Lifgren:
I moved to Putnam Lake with my husband in 1989 and have three sons. I am an artist and sell my artwork through a shared business with my husband. For the past two years I have worked to keep the cell tower off Putnam Lake. It is my belief that a cell tower does not belong on any lake - and that keeping Putnam Lake healthy and natural for its residents is the PLCC’s first responsibility. Putnam Lake has seen a lot of changes and none more drastic than what has happened to the lake and parkland through the years. The PLCC is the one entity in a position to deal with the negative impact to these two important landmarks. But it can not be accomplished without money and people and a changed perspective. Ways of the past must be set aside to focus on the future. We can not continue to have the same members pay more and more each year while so many in the community do not contribute. But, we can not expect people to join if they don’t believe it’s a community necessity. The PLCC must prioritize and focus on these issues first. With your support, I will try to do so as a PLCC Board member.

Alicia Earle:
Alicia is a lifetime member of the PLCC. Her family history dates back to the 1940's with the purchase of a home on Interlaken Drive. Since then, many of her family members have volunteered to help in the community. She lives with her husband and three boys and works for the Brewster School System. She has been involved with many activities for her children, the PLCC, taught CCD at Sacred Heart, a CYO volunteer and Cub Scout leader. Alicia is so concerned about the health of the lake and condition of the parkland that she is hoping to become a board member herself and work collaboratively with the board to implement positive change.

Angela Miller Collins:
Angela decided to get involved after hearing that there was a cell tower going up at the boat house and witnessing the decline of the lake and the parkland. A Putnam Lake resident for over 45 years, she would like to see it become more like it was when her father Robert Miller was president. Beautiful beaches, a clubhouse, movies and dances, these memories are dear to her heart and she believes we can get back to those times with additional membership, and more community involvement. Today she can be seen walking with her dog Ollie, a routine which gives her the opportunity to speak to the people and learn what their concerns are. She believes if we work together, we can make these changes that will benefit the whole community.

Deb Lawlor:
My family and I have been residents of this community for
nearly 17 years. I joined the board in 2007 as supervisor
of the lifeguards. In 2009, I was appointed president of
the board of directors. I am married to fellow board member,
and lifetime resident/PLCC member, Chris Lawlor. I have two
daughters, Monique and Ariel who are members of the Putnam Lake
Piranha Swim team, and students in the Brewster school system.
I am a teacher, of 20 years, with the Lakeland school district.
I also volunteer my time at Sacred Heart Parish as a catechist,
and lectern. Being involved in these organizations has enabled
me to meet many wonderful people who love this community and
Putnam Lake. It is my choice to continue my role on the board
of the PLCC.

Pat Ploeger:
Pat has lived on the lake and been a PLCC member since 1980. Like
most members she was not aware of how much the PLCC influenced her
quality of life until she joined the board in 2008 in response to
the cell tower issue. Since then she’s worked on updating the
bylaws, improving communications with the membership, and working
with various governmental agencies to correct the water quality
problems long afflicting the lake. Pat also serves the community
as a trustee and treasurer of the Patterson Historical Society,
and presented a History of Putnam Lake at the VFW earlier this year. She also serves on the advisory boards of Putnam CAP and the American Heart Association. Through her involvement in town government she serves as a liaison with the Town Board.

Marilyn A. Keeler:
Marilyn first arrived in the community of Putnam Lake at the tender age of 6 months in 1944. Her parents were renters every year until 1962 when they finally purchased their homestead bungalow near Jackson Beach. Marilyn traveled around the country with her job with the National Park Service. After her father's passing she moved home with her mother and they made Putnam Lake their permanent residence in 1983, raising the bungalow and having it reconstructed When Marilyn retired from the National Park Service she became a volunteer at Sacred Heart Church, working on the Church's 50* Anniversary Journal, became a team member of the Rite to Christian Initiation (RCIA), as well as Lector and Eucharistic Minister, and also belongs to the Catholic Daughters at the Parish. Several years later she took a part-time job in the Rectory and became its Secretary/Bookkeeper. She has been an Alternate Board Member of the PLCC for the last year, is also an Associate of the VFW post, and is taking over membership coordination of the PLCC. Marilyn has faith in the Putnam Lake community and looks forward to working with everyone.
