PLCC MESSAGE - PARK DISTRICT
![]()
March 5, 2012
Dear Members,
On February 22, 2012 the Patterson Town Board adopted the resolution for the creation of a Park District for Putnam Lake. However, because the Town will not have the funding until 2013, the PLCC Board has decided that we will, to the best of our abilities, maintain and manage the beaches and parklands of Putnam Lake this summer.
Our executive board met with counsel, and has been advised not to contest this decision. This means that we will be cooperating with the town once we have been contacted, for the transfer of our property.
The creation of a Park district is an emotional one for many PLCC members, because of the personal time and commitment that has been given by so many for so long. Many fear the environmental changes that may occur. The community needs to be accepting of these emotions, as much as we must be accepting of the creation of this district and focus on the fact that the Town will now have the ability to do something for our Lake!
Enclosed is your 2012 application. Please complete the form, and send in your membership dues by April 15th. We are asking for an earlier than usual payment date, because of the very unusual circumstances we find ourselves in. If we are unable to reach our goal of the necessary 200+ full members, your submitted dues will be returned to you.
It is our hope that this season, will not be any different than any other previous summer seasons. Your dues, as always, will be used to finance the necessary operations and safety of our beaches and the parklands.
We hope that you will continue to support the PLCC this season. We do not want to disappoint the many families who count on the beaches, swim team, swim lessons, and softball league for their summer plans.
Since we are not creating a newsletter for this season, I feel that this website is the only source people can refer to for information about the Lake.
An updated "Events" list with dates will be posted shortly.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Deb Lawlor PLCC President

old message
Putnam Lake is the single most important asset to our community. Its natural beauty
enhances both our property values and our quality of life. The Putnam Lake Community
Council is the custodian of the lake and its surrounding beaches and parklands.
We encourage all residents to join the PLCC and help maintain and
enhance Putnam Lake.
The PLCC operates exclusively from revenue generated from membership dues. Taxes,
insurance and lifeguards account for over two-thirds of our current budget.
That doesn't leave much. The PLCC board of directors would like to provide our
members with more and better services as well as improvements to our beaches
and parklands. It is with this in mind that one of our continuing goals in the
PLCC is to increase our membership (and the revenue it generates). We have a membership table outside the market on summer weekends and we have monthly membership
meetings.
