Pat Ploeger of the PLCC Board has made arrangements with the Putnam County DOH to receive the updated numbers shortly after the water is tested. As the results come in this screen will be updated with the current numbers. --jxl 7/13/2010
The water at our two main beaches, Jackson and Warren, is tested regularly throughout the swimming season by the Putnam County Department of Health (PCDOH).
The PCDOH requires that fecal coliform levels must not exceed 1,000 per 100ml of water to be safe for swimming.
In addition to the regular testing by the PCDOH, over the years there have been numerous studies of Putnam Lake and its watershed to determine ways in which the overall clarity and health can be improved.
Currently, the PLCC Board of Directors is working with the Town of Patterson and officials from the county, state and federal governments to find ways to improve the quality of Putnam Lake.
Results we have so far are shown below (all results are Fecal Coliform, State Standard is 1000 Fecal Coliform/100 ml):
